Academic Coaching for Students

In one-on-one sessions with students, we work to develop skills that will support the student's success in school and in life.

Student sessions are at least twice a week- sometimes more often if needed. Students can sign up for sessions on an as-needed basis, on a weekly basis, or on a monthly basis.

Examples of skills developed during academic coaching sessions:

  • Academics- reading and writing

  • Work habits

  • Planning out assignments and studying

  • Organizing assignments and materials

  • Communicating with teachers

  • Advocating

  • Navigating group work

  • Strategies for improving focus

  • Cognitive flexibility

  • Study skills

  • Prioritizing

  • Procrastination

  • Reflecting on grades and feedback

Family Support

Parents are experts in what their child's experiences and needs are. I love working with parents to harness this expertise and collaborate to support their child.

When I am coaching a student, I communicate with parents on a weekly basis- sometimes more- so they are informed about what is going on at school and strategies the student is working on for that week.

I also work solely with parents to navigate situations they encounter with their child and school. This includes but is not limited to: developing executive functioning skills, working with school faculty, psychoeducational evaluation information, and advocacy support with 504 and IEP plans.

My work with parents includes advising and sharing resources to equip parents with strategies and language to understand and support their child.
